The Purchase Area Wings is part of the Kentucky Road Riders<\/a> which is part of the JMC Riders<\/a> national organization. We welcome all brands of motorcycles.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

What kind of riding are you looking for? We think you’ll find it in our backyard, the Purchase Area of Kentucky. Do you like beautiful tree lined roads with little traffic? Let’s ride the Woodlands Trace through LBL or Land Between the Lakes. This area is a recreational paradise positioned on Federal land open to the public between Kentucky Lake and Lake Barkley.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

While the Kentucky portion has a relaxed tour feel, the south half in Tennessee has a few more twists and hills; not to mention a buffalo pasture where you can often see these giants of the prairie grazing along the roadside. Near the buffalo pasture is the Homeplace 1850’s Working Farm. You’ll also find numerous State Parks to visit, camp in or stay in their lodges.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n

Continue to the end of the Trace, hang a left towards Dover, TN and try out the local restaurants.  On the way is Fort Donelson National Battlefield where the South defended the Cumberland River from the North during the Civil War. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The north end of the Trace offers views of Kentucky Lake dam from Grand Rivers, KY.  Strolling through Grand Rivers you’ll find Patti’s 1880’s Settlement and the Badgett Playhouse where musical events are frequently held.  Or head to Paducah and stroll through the National Quilt Museum.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the far southwest part of the Purchase Area is the Columbus Belmont State Park near Columbus, KY.  This is another Civil War site where you can see a large cannon and the anchor used to hold a huge chain that was stretched across the Mississippi River to impede “Yankee” boats.  While in Columbus be sure to stop by Beards and Roses for a great hamburger and home made ice cream in more flavors than you can imagine.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n

Just south of Wickliffe, KY is Fort Jefferson Hill Park and Memorial Cross with a view of the Mississippi River. Are you an ancient history buff? Visit Wickliffe Mounds State Historic Site just northwest of Wickliffe. Or cross the Ohio River to the west to visit the Mississippi-Ohio River Confluence. There’s a viewing platform where you can see where these two mighty rivers become one.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n

Our portion of Kentucky is covered with small back roads with lots of twists and turns, and unlike many parts of the country, almost all of these roads are paved. We do have an abundance of deer, tractors and other things to keep an eye out for so use caution on these rural roads and trails.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A trip to the Purchase Area will provide riders with many sights and riding opportunities so come see our part of Kentucky. We think you’ll be back.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n
